Empowering Youth for Sustainable Initiatives in Just Transition Regions
Dedicated to empowering young people in Just Transition regions to spearhead sustainable initiatives that will have a lasting positive impact on their local communities. The Just Transition movement recognizes the significant shift towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly economy, which often comes with the phasing out of certain industries. This transition can have profound effects on both the environment and the livelihoods of individuals and communities. By involving youth in this process, we aim to harness their creativity, energy, and innovative thinking to not only mitigate the negative consequences of this transition but also catalyze new opportunities for growth and development.
Out of 75 selected projects, Bulgaria is one of the countries represented in the EUTEENS4GREEN project, which combines interesting and social-oriented activities. By involving youth in this process, Bulgaria is considering the importance of their voices and ideas in shaping a more equitable and sustainable future.
Bulgaria’s Initiatives
Able 2 be sustainable: Raise the awareness of the local population about pollution and help them engage in actions to prepare them for the challenges of the green transition.
A sustainable future for my hometown Kyustendil: Help individuals from Kyustendil learn more about the environmental changes and the human processes that could positively impact their future.
Sustainable Bobov Dol: Restore the garden at their school, build a relaxing spot and start a club that gives the students of Bobov Dol an opportunity to learn about important environmental topics.
Youth 4 Green Transition: Support and empower youth and create possibilities for improvements in their regions. 300 young people will be trained on the topics of climate change and the Just Transition.
Ecotopia – Caring Community: Raise awareness and facilitate discussions regarding climate change science – the causes, consequences, and possible solutions to solve the crises.
Youth in Transition: The goal of the project is to raise awareness on the topics of climate change and just transition, to actively involve youth in project-related activities and to encourage them to act toward solving problems related to these topics.
Pure air for green future: Increase youth awareness regarding sustainable development and the green transition in the region. Create a bridge between the decision-makers and the citizens.
