Have you heard of the European Capital of Innovation Awards?
The European Capital of Innovation Awards (iCapital) is an annual recognition prize awarded to the European cities that best promote innovation in their communities. This year’s edition acknowledges cities’ contributions to the development of local innovation ecosystems for the benefit of innovators and the well-being of their residents. The applications are open until 30 June 2022.
Within a budget of 1.8 million EUR, six awards are offered to reward the most creative municipal practices within the context of a developed, multi-faceted, well-functioning city innovation ecosystem that fosters game-changing innovation.
To promote this edition of the Awards, the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency is hosting an educational webinar on 28 April. Attendees will learn about the edition’s new features, notably the eligibility and reward criteria.
Furthermore, participants will learn more about this edition’s two categories: ‘The European Rising Innovative City‘, which is open to towns and cities with a population of 50,000 to 250,000 inhabitants, as well as ‘The European Capital of Innovation,‘ which is open to cities with more than 250,000 citizens.
