EU Commission Seeks Public Input on new “Apply AI Strategy” to Boost Sector-Wide Innovation
Consultation open until June 4 aims to shape AI deployment across key industries including healthcare, energy, and defense.
The European Commission has launched a public consultation and call for evidence on its upcoming “Apply AI Strategy”, designed to position Europe as a global leader in the adoption and innovation of artificial intelligence (AI). The consultation period is open from 9 April to 4 June 2025.
The ‘”Apply AI Strategy” will act as a strategic roadmap for embedding AI technologies into a range of critical sectors, including advanced manufacturing, aerospace, security and defence, agri-food, energy, environment and climate, mobility, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, robotics, telecommunications, advanced materials, and cultural and creative industries.
This initiative aligns with President Ursula von der Leyen’s Political Guidelines, which emphasize Europe’s leadership in digital transformation. The strategy also aims to enhance public services and foster sustainable growth by supporting AI integration across the EU economy.
Stakeholders—ranging from industry leaders and public authorities to civil society organizations—are invited to contribute their perspectives. The feedback will help identify practical challenges, policy gaps, and actionable solutions to support AI deployment in specific sectors. The consultation also covers the implementation of the AI Act and explores how the European Commission and Member States can better assist stakeholders in navigating the evolving AI landscape.

In conjunction with the public consultation, the European AI Office will lead structured dialogues with industry and engage with Member States to gather diverse insights. These findings will inform not only the ‘Apply AI Strategy’ but also the upcoming European Strategy for AI in Science, which began its own consultation on 10 April 2025.
Interested parties can submit their input through the European Commission’s “Have Your Say” portal.
