The EU announced an additional €20 million to boost regional innovation ecosystems
Through the Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument (I3), an initiative created by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) funded by the European Regional Development Fund, the European Union (EU) will provide an additional €20 million to boost regional innovation ecosystems.
Interregional Innovation Investments Instrument promotes stronger interregional investment collaboration and builds long-term relationships. It connects regional ecosystems in shared smart specialization areas, which are critical for accelerating market uptake of research findings and innovation.
Aligned with the ambitions of the European Commission, a new cut-off date with an additional €20 million was added to I3’s call Strand 2a. The main goals are to boost regional innovation ecosystems and increase participation in global value chains, as well as international partnerships.
Strand 2a has a significant cohesion component and focuses on establishing links between less developed regions and those with more advanced regional innovation potential.
To facilitate the application procedure, EISMEA made some adjustments and simplifications that can be consulted in this call corrigendum.
The grants available under Strand 2a can be accessed here.
Applications must be submitted until April 20th (17:00 CET).
